Indian equity benchmarks lost ground amid choppy trade, after the Indian rupee breached 60 level on dollar demand.
Rupee depreciated by 56 paise to 60.22 per dollar. The BSESensex is down 73.30 points at 18555.85, and the Nifty is down 22.05 points at 5587.05.
Precious metals too are under pressure; gold futures fell below Rs 26,000 per 10 gram while silverdropped below the Rs 40,000 per kg on the MCX .
